Embracing "the now"

At 1, family often makes a big deal of turning one

At 4, we are so eager to turn 5; start school "like the big kids"

At 9, we want so badly to turn those double digits

At 14, we long to be driving and/or dating

20's - we're not in school anymore, thrown into this mature decision making world, yet still don't have   a clue how the world works....but we fake our way along

30's - we're old enough to realize how very little we know and how much is still to be learned

I can't write about the 40's and beyond because I'm not there yet.

But I've come to realize we spend  so much of life wanting to be 5, or 16, or wishing to have that big house or big truck or that perfect job...

What would life be like if we spent more time embracing the now? Not the "what if's", the "I wishes" and "if only's" but if we truly embraced where we are now.

Nothing wrong with goals but how many present moments are we missing right now because we are so focused on times ahead, we can't see what's right in front of us.

Will we spend the first half of our lives rushing forward only to spend the last half of our lives wishing we'd seen and appreciated our "nows" when we were younger?

My life is definitely not where I thought it'd be at this point; but joy can be found in the toughest of places, if you're willing to look.

I'm not 100% happy with life right now, but I also don't want to be 80 years old with regrets that I wasted time wishing life was different.  I believe everything happens for a reason, even if we can't see it.

So whether you're 1,10,15,40,60,90,rich, broke, happy, stressed, sick or healthy, whatever your season you're in, I hope you can find a way to embrace the now.

I've learned if we have regrets, that's just something we need to work to change.

Failure is only failure if we refuse to grow from the experience

Find a way to embrace today 😀
